Chetana and Shridhar Kinger from Pune loved the Ferrnhills RoyaalPalace as a backdrop for a music festival. Ferrnhills Royaal Palace has been hosting goM.A.D music festival that was recently held in Ooty for the past 2 years and it has been an awesome experience for us too! We love the amalgamation of music, art and dance at such a historical place and at such a beautiful location. Watch the video to know these youngsters views
The goMAD festival at The Ferrnhills RoyaalPalace Ooty
The festivities in Ooty have just come to an end. The hills were alive with music, art and dance for 3 days and now as the quiet and calmness descends on the hills we bring to you the glimpses of the day in photos and videos. So those who couldn’t make it to the M.A.D festival this year, here’s something to bring you some solace.
The crowd was fantastic and as the weather held up and the rains didn’t play a spoilsport the bass, jazz, rock, metal, fusion, reggae and classical – all came together to bring about a mesmerizing and an unforgettable experience in music and dance. The woods was the place to catch up your breath, as two stages had bands performing continuously from morning 11 to way past midnight every day. While en-route to the second stage people could buy knickknacks and kitsch stuff – some useful and some for pure fun! People stayed in tents or close by accommodations and the drive upto Ferrnhills RoyaalPalace was always breathtaking.
The backdrop of a palace for a music festival was intimidating and the lovely lawns proposed the perfect area to lounge around as music lovers heard their favorite band perform. Bands like Jeramiah FerrariSean Ronald and Friends, sky rabbit, 1001 ways, Agam and many others performed at the M.A.D festival at Ferrnhills RoyaalPalace Ooty.

As Day 2 at goM.A.D culminates, we have already heard almost 32 bands! The atmosphere is electric and the woods are alive with music and art! So many new talents have performed and so many interesting stories to share.
The huge lawns at the Fernhills Palace are the perfect setting for such a unique concept- 2 stages with continuous live performances, lovely art instillations in the woods, relaxed atmosphere and great food and drinks… what more could you ask for? The mornings are spent hearing great music while lazing on the grass. But that’s not all, there’s a fun Photo Booth from Pictureculate who offer you amazing props! Wear the props + get wacky+ and a cool pic is ready in no time! What a fun way to remember the M.A.D festival J
People have come from various backgrounds and races, but what unites them is the goM.A.D festival. Enthusiastic photographers and professional ones are having the time of their life capturing the vibrancy, the spontaneity of it all!
The woods through which one has to pass to reach the other stage, just adds a different dimension to the whole atmosphere. It is almost like being in a fairy tale, where art installations peep from every branch of the tree and the moist earth adds freshness to the flea market here. If you want to have some fun, there is a caricature stall! Have a caricature done of yourself or your gang at M.A.D, It’s all about having fun! There was even a cool group that created music with empty drums, paint cans, empty bottles and PVC pipes!
As night sets in, the music comes alive with lovely lights playing on the stage! The chill in the air does not matter and evenings offer the perfect ambience for some mad dance moves, while the bonfire in the night offers a place to make new friends. It is Music… Masti and Madness all the way

It’s more than three months, since the MAD festival and we are still dizzy from the glitz and frenzy that unfolded for three days in the month of April at Ferrnhills RoyaalPalace Ooty. Three days of Music, Art and Dance, a whirlwind of activities, soulful music right from rock to folk and free spirited indulgence – all on the star-lit lawns and woods of the Ferrnhills Property.
Our 40 acre property was milling with music lovers, travelers, photographers and the like. All had come together to celebrate music that cuts across genres and countries. The ‘MAD’ culmination of music, arts and cultures against the backdrop of our Heritage Hotel, kind of transported us back in time, when Maharaja’s patronized various art and cultural activities to promote a talent or creed. It was befitting that a contemporary music festival be held in the erstwhile summer palace of Maharaja of Mysore, in the picturesque hill station of Ooty. As the likes of Raghu Dixit and Papon performed to a live audience, everybody relaxed and rejuvenated in the perfect weather of Ooty.
Our guest list included Raghu Dixit, Papon, Indian Ocean and Isha Sharvani. As they soaked in the colonial charm, we strived to ensure that all the guests and the audience got to enjoy every minute of their time spent at Ferrnhills. It was a MAD extravaganza that had continuous performances on two stages built on either side of the woods at Fernhills property. The woods doubled up as the bar and a flea market, where audience could relax and shop to their heart’s content. Big brands like Kingfisher, Blackdog and Signature had set up this bar in the nature’s lap. The jam sessions and the paintball zone added the zing factor to this vibrant festival . We look forward to hosting another M.A.D festival in near future.
